Lumbala Leadership & Sports Foundation (LLSF) is a collective of experienced University educators, Business entrepreneurs, NCAA D1 athletes, Health leaders, and Policymakers who are passionate about changing the system of learning for BIPOC and Minority Groups while focusing on Abuse-Free Sports, harassment or discrimination in Canada.
Everyone learns differently. Thus, we employ a 360-degree learning approach that assists all types of students with visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning strategies. LLSF provides students with the opportunity to explore what interests them with hands-on experience through day boot camps, volunteer opportunities, trade programs, and learning from industry experts. We focus on individualized learning plans, and champion students to strive for excellence by finding their niche, no matter the subject and sports ambitions. Our Learning Management Software (LMS) is available 24/7 for students.
Living an active, healthy lifestyle is pivotal to the development of children and young adults and goes beyond just a regular gym class. LLSF teaches athletes the importance of moving their bodies through sports, exercise and making healthy decisions. We have developed a progressive cafeteria to fuel their bodies with nutritious options and teach them to create consistent healthy habits. We encourage students to participate in various sports teams, not only for exercise but also to learn the invaluable lessons that being on a team can teach them– discipline, teamwork, nutritional recovery, and goal setting.
Sports athletes can have a difficult journey to reach their final sports destination and along the way they will face some adversity. Here at LLSF, we are focused on empowering athletes in areas such as mental health, sports psychology, depression or anxiety and eating disorders. Our team of health experts have been working in the area of Health Sciences for decades and can educate for stress, social support, coping skills and self-esteem which are all found to have an impact on the athletes’ mental health. Coping strategies like relaxation, visualization and emotional intelligence are mandatory in the 21st century.
